Abbey Cellars ‘Passion’ Hawke’s Bay Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Bright, moderately deep, pink-red colour with light purple hues on rim. The nose is restrained, but shows good depth and presence of raspberry and cream aromas with fresh redcurrant notes, lifted red florals and nuances of confectionary. Medium-dry to taste, soft and unctuous flavours of raspberries and cream are entwined with floral and fruit pastille flavours. The palate is rounded and soft, quite smooth flowing, with a slippery texture. Subtly rich and lush, the wine has good acid energy and drive, carrying the wine on a soft textured line to a gently rich finish. This is a soft, plush, mellow rosé with light raspberry and cream flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and Asian fare over the next 2 years. A blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Merlot, soaked overnight and cool-fermented in tank to 12.0% alc. and approx. 11 g/L RS. 16.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $20.00
