Abbey Cellars ‘Eden’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Even, dark-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has an elegant nose with aromas of ripe black berry, plum and black peppery fruits, lifted with violet florals, and complexed by Asian spice and toasty oak notes. The aromatics grow in depth and red floral and raspberry fruit elements emerge. Medium-bodied, ethereal flavours of ripe, dark red fruits, pepper, violets and florals unfold to fill the mouth. The fruit is intermixed with waves of spice and toasty oak notes. This has a soft and accessible mouthfeel with supple and plush tannins that carry the flavours gently to a fine-textured, moderately sustained finish. This is a soft and plush, ripe Syrah with aromatic fruit and spicy and toasty nuances. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. 100% Syrah fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in approx. 40% new French oak. 17.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $25.00
