8 Ranges Central Otago Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Aug-2013
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is full and intense with aromas of white stonefruits combined with flinty lees work and steely mineral notes that build in depth. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has good weight and presence of white stonefruit and flinty flavours. The fruit has a subtle richness and sweetness, providing a roundness to the mouthfeel, and a fine textural line carries the flavours. The palate carries through to a grainy, steely finish with mineral nuances and a little lusciousness. This is a mouthfilling, dryish Pinot Gris with good weight and minerally flavours. Match with seafood and creamy white meat dishes over the next 3-4 years, Sel Ovaille and 2-15 clone fruit from the ‘Tussock Ridge’ vineyard, hand-picked, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.27% alc. and 9.2 g/L RS. 18.0-/20 Aug 2013 RRP $26.00
