36 Bottles Central Otago Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Nov-2015
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is very fresh and aromatic with bright dark red and black cherry fruit melded with nuances of plums, thyme herbs, liquorice and savoury whole bunch stalk and perfumed complexities. This has a firm and tight core, promising to unfold and blossom. Medium-full bodied, bright, juicy, rich and luscious fruit dark red berry and cherry fruit flavours are entwined with liquorice, spice, whole cluster stalk and perfumed elements. The palate features a firm, fine-grained core with drive and linearity. The mouthfeel is enlivened by crisp acidity, and the concentrated line carries to a long, densely-packed finish of black cherry fruit and fragrant herbs. This is a bright, lively, well-concentrated and structured Pinot Noir with freshness and depth. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5-6 years. A blend of 40% clone 5, 35% Abel and 25% 667 from the ‘Avalon’ vineyard, Queensberry, fermented with a portion of whole berries and approx. 20% whole clusters to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in approx. 37% new French oak. 18.5-/20 Nov 2015 RRP $31.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
