144 Islands Melika’s Feild 2021, Bay of Islands

Blended White from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 13-Dec-2023
Bright, even., pale yellow with some depth. The nose is softly full, with citrus, orchard fruit aromas and floral elements. Medium-bodied, aromas of quince, pomelo, lime, and grapefruit peels melded with magnolia, beeswax and a hint of smoke. The mouthfeel is lightly waxy and round-edged, with lively yet delicate acidity that carries florals and a subtle hint of spice to a sustained finish. This field blend shows integration, calm energy and an array of fruit and purity on a textural palate. Match with butterfish and pork rilette over the next 3 years. A blend of 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Chardonnay,,25% Albarino, 12% Semillon, 3% Sauvingon Gris, 3% Petit Manseng, 2% Muscat. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed to oak, acacia barriques and puncheons, co-fermented to 12.% alc, aged 11 months on lees. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Dec 2023 RRP $45
