12,000 Miles Gladstone Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 17-Aug-2011
Multi-clone mix including 5, 115, Abel and 10/5 from ‘Dakins Road', ‘Boyd' and ‘Biddeford' blocks destemmed, but with around 40% whole berries, fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French oak. Light ruby-red with youthful purple hues to the colour. This has a fresh, intense and moderately concentrated nose of dark cherry and red berry aromas with notes of spices and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, this has vibrant primary fruit flavours of juicy dark cherries with nuances of spices that unfold. Supple tannins provide supporting balance and soft textures while allowing the fruit to feature. The oaking is subtle with a faint resinous aspect, and the wine has a moderately long finish. Drink this approachable, fruit-featured wine with tuna, duck and mushroom dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 17.0-/20 Aug 2011 RRP $26.00
