0bsidian ‘Reserve’ Waiheke Island Chardonnay 2017

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 10-Apr-2018
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, a little paler on the edge. The nose is elegantly proportioned with good depth and intensity of fragrant white stonefruit and citrus fruit aromas, along with soft white floral elements, fresh nutty oak nuances and a firm core of minerals. The nose shows purity and freshness. Medium-bodied, the palate is fresh and lively with vibrant and aromatic flavours of white stonefruits, sweet citrus fruit and white florals, unfolding nuances of nutty oak and minerals. The palate has a good core with plenty of drive and linearity, with a fine-textured line and refreshing, lacy acidity. This carries to a long and sustained, lively and aromatic finish. This is a bright and lively Chardonnay with white stonefruit and citrus fruit flavours along with nutty and mineral notes, and plenty of freshness and clarity. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and pressed directly to barrel and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 40% new French oak with 20% MLF. 17.5+/20 Apr 2018 RRP $48.00
