Established in 2008, Yealands Estate has quickly grown to become one of this country’s most influential industry players. The company, based in the Awatere Valley, owns over 1,000 ha of vines, and operates a modern winery, producing a mind-boggling array of wines under distinct tiers. Heading the winemaking is Tamra Kelly-Washington, who no doubt spends considerable attention on the top quality flagship ranges. Here, I review the limited bottling ‘Winemaker’s Reserve’ Pinot Noir 2014, this vintage from the Awatere Valley. The vineyard from where the fruit comes is noted by Tamra as producing "beautiful floral notes and elegance”. It follows the Gibbston Valley, Central Otago sourced 2013 wine. www.yealands.co.nz
