There's a touch of the ‘iconic' about Steve Farquharson and his Wooing Tree label and wines. The Wooing Tree is a venerable pine nearly 90 y.o. which is situated in the middle of the vineyards owned by Steve, his wife Thea, sister and brother-in-law Jane and Geoff Bews. It was the meeting place for courting couples and has a local significance. The operation is near ‘The Big Fruit Sculpture' just outside Cromwell, a modern icon and landmark which is easily recognised by visitors to the district. And the Wooing Tree wines are special expressions of Pinot Noir, the most important variety in Central Otago. What makes Wooing Tree particularly interesting is the range of wines made from Pinot Noir. Blush, rosé, value table red, classic Pinot Noir, and a prestige Pinot Noir, as well as a dessert wine. This is a consistent range showing versatility, diversity and quality that makes Wooing Tree unique. The wines are made by Peter Bartle at VinPro. Here are the new release wines from Wooing Tree that cover these different styles. www.wooingtree.co.nz
