Wairau River 2012 ‘Reserve’ Wine Releases

13-Jun-2014
As one of Marlborough’s most respected labels, Wairau River has an exemplary range of wines. The ‘Estate’ wines are paragons expressing varietal clarity and regional character, while offering real value. (Click here to see my reviews of the current ‘Estate’ range made in March.) This is the result of fully mature vineyards, originally planted by owners Phil and Chris Rose in the early 1990s and steadfast winemaking in the hands of their son Sam. The Wairau River ‘Reserve’ range is a step up on the ‘Estate’ wines, taking select parcels of fruit to make wines "that express unique flavour, texture and complexity…to display all that is great about Marlborough”. Here, I review the 2012 ‘Reserve’ releases. They are all packed with flavour and while drinking well now, have the ability to keep and develop for a number of years yet. www.wairauriverwines.com
