Waimea Estates 2015 and 2014 Nelson Releases

04-Nov-2015
Although one of Nelson’s largest wine producers, Waimea Estates remains family owned and operated. Trevor and Robyn Bolitho planted their first vines in 1993 and produced their first wines in the 1997 vintage. Since then, the estate vineyards have grown to total over 140 ha. Waimea Estates showcases the Waimea Plains, the wines complementary to those of the Moutere Hills. Trevor and Robyn’s son Ben is now in charge of the running of Waimea Estates and has been the company’s viticulturist since 2005. Trudy Sheild has been with Waimea since 2004, and as head winemaker since 2010, and the team has the very experienced Martin Carrington looking after sales and marketing. The wines always show well at judgings, with many trophies and golds won, and they are well-represented domestically and internationally. Here, I review a selection of the new 2015 and 2014 vintages releases. www.waimeaestates.co.nz
