Waimea and Spinyback 2012 Whites and 2011 Pinot Noir

07-May-2013

The Bolitho family has a proven track record growing a broad range of grape varieties which is superbly interpreted by winemaker Trudy Sheild into wines that seem to capture an inordinate proportion of medals. However it is the aromatic whites and Pinot Noir that are the most highly regarded and best performing from the output, both in the premium ‘Waimea Estates’ label as well as the secondary tier ‘Spinyback’. Here, I review a selection of new and current release aromatic and Pinot Noir wines, a few I have already looked at before. It is pleasing to see how these wines in particular have developed with greater richness, interest and balance. www.waimeaestates.co.nz
