Vista Wines 2014 Pinot Gris and 2012 Pinot Noir

26-Jan-2015
One of the newest entrants on the Nelson wine scene, Vista is the label of Greg and Bridget Dryden who established 4,500 vines in a vineyard measuring just over 1 ha in 2009. The vineyard is situated on a north-west facing slope on Moutere gravels on Kina Beach Road. The plantings are equally divided over Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir with a tiny amount of Syrah for home consumption. The initial wines, a 2013 Pinot Gris and 2012 Pinot Noir were made at the Anchorage winery. The Drydens have contracted Patrick Stowe of Rimu Grove as their winemaker, using the Moutere Hills winemaking facility. Here, I review the new 2014 Pinot Gris, made by Patrick Stowe, and have a re-look at the 2012 Pinot Noir. www.vistawines.co.nz
