2020 Rosés are absolutely stunning!
Fruit harvested during the COVID-19 lockdown under straight restrictions, difficult times; however grapes quality made up for the difficulties the industry faced. Marlborough had great harvesting conditions: fantastic weather, clean and beautiful fruit. The growing season had beautiful conditions, with a long dry season, slightly cooler towards the end, resulting in a slightly longer hang time to develop maximum flavours in grapes, definitely a vintage to remember.
The price point of the Top 6 Rosé is very affordable with Coal Pit Rosé at $31 being the highest of all.
Rosé is usually fermented and aged in stainless steel in this part of the world, to retain the pure fruit characters. Five of the Top 6 are made from Pinot Noir, they are all refreshing, well-balanced dry rosé with a depth of flavour and concentration.
Indian Summer Private Blend Rosé 2020 from Hawkes Bay is the only wine made from Provence varieties, a blend of Grenache and Cinsault and aged in older barrels for 6 months.
Two Rivers Isle of Beauty Rosé 2020 was the only one partly aged in concert egg to create a subtle and smooth texture.
Hope you enjoy some of my Top 6 Rosé over the summer!
