Tony Bish ‘Summertime’ Gisborne Chardonnay 2016

20-Jan-2017
When Tony Bish, chief winemaker for Sacred Hill launched his own label, it was no surprise that he would be focussing on the Chardonnay varietal. From his first release of his ‘Fat n Sassy’ Chardonnay with the 2013 vintage, there has been a variety of styles made, from what Tony calls ‘café’ or ‘lifestyle’ wines, to innovative and ultra-premium bottlings. All have been successful and demonstrate the versatility of the variety as well as the winemaker. Here, I review Tony’s second release of his ‘Summertime’ Chardonnay, from the 2016 vintage, from Gisborne fruit, made as an accessible, fruit-oriented example. www.tonybishwines.co.nz
