Tironui 2013 and 2014 Malbec Merlot Cabernet Blends

02-Mar-2016
Tironui Estate is the 2.025 ha vineyard of Richard and Jennifer Brown, situated just below ‘Sugarloaf’ in Taradale, Hawke’s Bay with views over Mission Estate, across Napier and out to Cape Kidnappers. The land was purchased in 1999, the hillside terrace and vines planted in 2002, producing the first vintage of wine in 2005, this being 200 bottles. Malbec is the predominant variety, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is tended by Blake Herbison assisted by Grant Russell, and the wines made by Chris Harrison of Beach House. Only estate fruit is used and the annual production of Bordeaux-inspired wine will never be more than 375 dozen. Here, I review the 2013 and 2014 vintages. www.tironuiestate.com
