Tiki ‘Single’ Vineyard 2016 Sauvignon and 2013 Pinot Noir

07-Oct-2016
While the core range of Royce and Sue McKean’s Tiki Wine portfolio are the ‘Estate’ wines, the size of the company’s holdings allows the expression of smaller parcels and sites under the ‘Single Vineyard’ tier. These wines are made when the climactic conditions allow the full expression of the vineyard characters. Winemaker Evan Ward searches for maximum flavour in the fruit, and handles it gently to capture as much of the personality of the wine as possible. Here, I review the new 2016 Single Vineyard’ Sauvignon Blanc, and have a re-look at the 2013 ‘Single Vineyard’ Pinot Noir, both wines from the company’s sites in the Upper Wairau Valley. www.tikiwine.com
