Theory & Practice 2015 Merlot and 2014 Syrah

19-May-2016
It appears Ant Mackenzie is a winemaker going places quickly. After a quiet spell following working for some of the country’s major companies, he spent time gathering his thoughts and developing his strategies to launch his own label wines. This he’s done with some real success (click here to see my report on an overview tasting). His Spanish-themed 'Tono’ wines are complemented by his technique ‘Theory & Practice’ and site-expression ‘Craft Farm’ wines, and with each passing month, it seems there’s new wines Ant has released to consider. Ant Mackenzie Wines is certainly growing. Here, I review the new release ‘Theory & Practice’ 2015 Merlot and 20154 Syrah, both from Hawke’s Bay fruit. It is likely there will soon be a 2016 Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris, with the possibility of some Marlborough wines, possibly destined for export. www.antswines.co.nz
