The Writer’s Block Bendigo Pinot Noir 2013

08-Aug-2014
It’s been a long time between Pinot Noir drinks for fans of Brendan Seal’s ‘The Writer’s Block’ wines. Brendan specialises in small lots of Pinot Noir wines made from selected sites in Central Otago, the wines designed to show the sites’ unique characters, as well as implementing a little winemaking experimentation to take the wines a little further in interest. His wines to date have been the 2009 and 2010 vintages from a Bannockburn site. There was nothing made in 2011 or 2012, but now, Brendan is issuing the first of his two 2013 Pinot Noirs, just as the last of his earlier wines have run out. I tasted barrel samples of the ‘Bendigo Terraces’ and ‘Alexandra’ wines when I visited Brendan at his ‘Packspur Wine Studio’ boutique winemaking facility in June last year, and was impressed (click here to read my report). Here, I review the ‘Bendigo Terraces’ Pinot Noir 2013 which is due for imminent release. www.thewritersblock.co.nz
