Mission winemaker Paul Mooney makes small lots of individual wines for clients overseas. Usually they come under the ‘Mission’ brand, but Paul has a special project with Sauvignon Blanc from the Wairarapa, the fruit being a little cooler than the Hawke’s Bay fruit he normally works with. It is a bit of a pet, and it is named ‘The Mooney Cuvee’. Here, I review his Cuvee #2, inspired by the wines of the Graves region of Bordeaux. www.missionestate.co.nz
