The Boneline 2016 Barebone and Sharkstone Chardonnays and Cabernet Franc

29-Jun-2017

The Boneline is the Waipara Valley family partnership of Tutton, Sienko & Hill who own 25 ha of vines over 25 y.o. in vineyard terraces of varying levels, two of which are natural amphitheatre. The vineyard is planted in Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Riesling in white, and Pinot Noir, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc in red, making a broad portfolio of wines. The Boneline is owned by London-based Paul Tutton, his artist wife Olga Sienko, vineyard based Vic Tutton and her husband Lindsay Hill, the viticulturist. Hill is assisted by Gary Quinn in the vineyard. Jeff Sinnott and Paul Goodege are the winemakers, Jeff has been involved fully since 2013; Paul Goodege, started work on The Boneline in 2015. ‘The Boneline’ refers to the nearby K-T Boundary line that is evidence of the global catastrophe of an asteroid impact on the earth defining the end of the Mesozoic Era and the extinction of the dinosaurs. The labels feature fossils discovered in the Waipara River dating back as far as 65 million years. www.theboneline.co.nz
