The Chapman family of Terrace Edge in the Waipara Valley are continually striving for excellence and innovation. Pete Chapman meticulously tends the vineyard on Georges Road to ensure it yields the finest possible fruit for Gavin Tait at the Muddy Water winery to work with. The Chapmans work very closely with their winemaking team to decide on the style of their wines, and there is ongoing discussion on improvements. Two new releases show the process of the interaction. The 2016 Rosé is made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Syrah, to provide a style with a difference. And the 2016 Albarino is the first crop off their Albarino vines, planted in April 2013 as a commitment to one of the exciting new varieties deemed suitable to this country. I review the two wines here. www.terraceedge.co.nz
