Te Mania 2015 and 2014 Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Releases

30-Jun-2016
The Te Mania and Richmond Plains labels of Nelson are inextricably linked as the both come under the Appleby Vintners umbrella sharing the winemaking facilities, including winemaker Steve Gill, and combine in marketing exercises. Te Mana was established by Jon Harrey and his family in 1990 with their own vineyard resources. As the connection with the Jensen family of Richmond Plans grew, the vineyards have steadily headed towards organic viticultural regimes. I find the Te Mania wines a little more forthright in style, and in some vintages and with some varieties, it is a very good thing. Here, I review the new release 2015 Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, two Chardonnays from the same vintage and two Pinot Noirs, the ‘Reserve’ from the 2014 vintage. www.temaniawines.co.nz
