Te Awanga Pinot Gris 2013

19-Mar-2014
The ‘Te Awanga Estate’ brand is a Rod McDonald label which has undergone a re-birth, as Rod has begun to grow and realise his winemaking venture. Originally established in as a grapegrowing business in1994, it became Kim Crawford Wines until that company was acquired by Constellation, and finally coming under Rod McDonald’s umbrella in 2010. The label is still based on the fruit from the 17 ha vineyard overlooking the Te Awanga coast, but is supplemented by grapes for wines from Rod’s more inland sites in Hawke’s Bay. Here, I review the new Te Awanga Estate Pinot Gris 2013, from a vineyard near Hastings. www.rmwines.co.nz
