Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir 2014

27-Apr-2016
A bottling of Pinot Noir by Rod McDonald would naturally fit in the ‘Te Awanga Estate’ brand, as that label signifies freshness, aromatics and a focus on fruit. The number of interesting and high quality table wine Pinot Noirs from Hawke’s Bay is slowly increasing as winegrowers plant on cooler sites, either by the coast, or higher in altitude, further inland. Here, I review the 2014 Te Awanga Estate Pinot Noir, from cooler, coastal fruit, the vines planted predominantly on a mix of clay, alluvial silts, volcanic ash and gravel. www.rmwines.co.nz
