  Moderately deep ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues, a little lighter on the edge. This has an elegantly proportioned bouquet with up-front and lively aromas of red cherry and berry fruit, along with fragrant red florals and piquant dried herbs, unveiling notes of game and cedary, nutty oak, with savoury, secondary earthy detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate has vibrant flavours of red cherry and berry fruit with savoury dried herb notes, entwined with hints of game and nutty oak. The mouthfeel is bright and shows vitality, with an elegantly concentrated core enlivened by lacy acidity. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin extraction lending a velvety texture and flow. The wine carries with good energy and linearity to a lingering finish. This is a vibrant, savoury red-fruited Pinot Noir with complex dried herb, game and nutty notes on a fine-textured palate. Serve with wild duck and pork, and with casseroles over the next 4 years. Pinot Noir fruit, clones 115, 667, 5 and Abel, from the ‘Tankersley Estate’ vineyard, on the Cromwell-Wanaka Road, indigenous yeast fermented with 30% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French oak. 18.0/20 Feb 2018 RRP $TBA
