Supper Club Wines is the label of Christchurch-based wine distributor Alastair Picton-Warlow. It was inspired by the Supper Clubs of London in the 1940s, where patrons could dine, drink and dance in relatively informal surroundings. Alastair has quietly grown the presence of his wines in the market in New Zealand, especially in the South Island, and he recently announced that wine will be exported to the U.S.A. The range has grown from a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Central Otago Pinot Noir to include an Awatere Pinot Gris and Nelson Chardonnay. The wines are made by consultant winemakers from parcels of fruit personally selected by Alastair. Here I review the new 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and 2012 Pinot Noir. www.supperclubwines.com
