Stonecrop – Martinborough to Montauk

25-Mar-2011
The Stonecrop label is the passion of kiwi Andrew Harris and Brit sculptor Sally Richardson, who have a lifestyle connection between New York and New Zealand. After a number of years visiting the town of Montauk on the south shore of Long Island in New York State, they decided to become resident there. Concurrent with this was the purchase of their 8 ha vineyard on Dry River Road in Martinborough, and their dream to make first-class wine, planting Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in 2003, the first wines made in 2006. The couple commute to Martinborough regularly to be hands-on as much as possible, and tend the vines with family and professional viticultural input. Likewise, consultant winemaking services with Gladstone Vineyard complete the wine and the picture. Most of the production is sold in New York City and Long Island, with limited availability in New Zealand. www.stonecropwines.com
