Starborough Family Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2014 and Pinot Noir 2013

07-Oct-2014
The Starborough winegrowing venture of the Jones family has grown steadily, securely and significantly. Fruit is sourced from three vineyard sites, the ‘O’Dwyers Farm’ site in the Rapaura district, ‘Starborough Terrace’ at Seddon, and ‘Long Lane’ on Redwood Pass Road. James Jones has developed the ‘Family Estate’ wines as the premium tier, with limited production ‘Single Vineyard’ expressions and a secondary brand under the ‘River Farm’ label in support. Between his attention in the vineyards and the skill of winemaker Dave Clouston, the wines have become excellent representations of the Marlborough region. Here, I review the new release 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and 2013 Pinot Noir from the ‘Family Estate’ range. www.starborough.co.nz
