At the start of the month, I reviewed the inaugural release of ‘The Gravels’ range of wines from Gavin Yortt of Squawking Magpie, a Syrah from the 2014 vintage. It was tightly bound but rich and succulent, and promised good aging ability (click here to see my review). The wine fulfilled "the intention to over-deliver on value”, and it faithfully represented the style and quality of wines from gravel soils. A Chardonnay and a Bordeaux-styled wine make up the rest of the initial range. Here, I review ‘The Gravels’ Chardonnay 2015. www.squawkingmagpie.co.nz
