Although Squawking Magpie has the image of being a producer of the classical and serious Hawke’s Bay styles and varieties, such as Chardonnay, Syrah and the Bordeaux-blends, there’s a much wider range than that made by Gavin Yortt to reach a larger and eager market. Gavin has made a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough-sourced fruit for around a decade, and he has a refreshing rose, made under ‘The Chatterer’ label in 2009 and 2010.
