SOHO ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

29-Jun-2016
Rachael Carter of SOHO Wines is fully aware of the cachet of Pinot Noir from both the Marlborough and Central Otago regions. The Marlborough wines offer harmony and evenness as well as consistency, at an accessible price, whereas the Central Otago bottlings can have vivid fruit and extroverted character. That’s why she has premium wines from both districts. The ‘Havana’ Pinot Noir comes from the company’s fully certified BioGro organic ‘Yarrum’ vineyard in the Southern Valleys and is made by young, rising star Dave Clouston. The ‘McQueen’ Pinot Noir is based on fruit sourced by maestro Grant Taylor, and invariably includes his Gibbston Valley selection, blended with portions from other sub-regions. Both have proven to be very successful. Here, I review the new 2015 ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir, which Rachael considers could be the best wine under this label to date. www.sohowineco.com
