SOHO 2015 ‘White Collection’ Pinot Noir, and Carter Chardonnay and Valentina Syrah

08-Jul-2016
The SOHO wine brand of Rachael Carter is wide ranging with considerable breadth of style and variety, yet it retains a sense of style that is set in main by the classiness and pizzazz of Rachael herself. The success of the brand rests not only on the glitz and glamour of her contacts and the broad range of business and social contacts, but also on the quality of the wines, That stems from quality vineyards that produce high quality fruit that are transformed into wine that befits Rachael’s aspirations. For her Waiheke Island wines, she has James Rowan make the wines, in Marlborough Dave Clouston, and in Central Otago Grant Taylor. That’s some serious expertise on the team. Here, I review the new, accessible ‘White Collection’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015, and the reserve-styled ‘Carter’ Chardonnay and ‘Valentina’ Syrah, also from 2015, the latter two from Waiheke Island, from what is regarded as an excellent vintage. www.sohowineco.com
