  Even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a moderately deep nose with aromas of tamarillos entwined with black and dark-red berry fruits, fresh herbs and a layering of cool-spectrum stalk notes. The nose builds in depth and concentration with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate has fresh, bright, up-front and lively fruit flavours of black and dark-red berry fruits melded with tamarillos, fresh and dark herbs and cool-spectrum, herbaceous stalk notes that form a well-packed heart. The mouthfeel is crisp and brisk with racy acidity and the fruit is upported by light, grainy-textured tannin extraction and structure. The tamarillo, herb and stalk flavours prevail and carry through to a mouthwatering, racy, lightly-nuanced finish. This is a moderately concentrated Pinot Noir with black and dark-red fruits overlaid by tamarillo, herb and stalk notes on a brisk palate with light, grainy textures. Serve with herb-marinated poultry and pork dishes over the next 3 years. A blend of fruit, 55% from the Waipara Valley and 45% from the Waitaki Valley, fermented with a portion of whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine given oak contact. 15.5/20 Aug 2017 RRP $24.90
