Snapper Rock, Ward Valley and Pirinoa Road from Antipodean Sommelier

09-Sep-2016
The ‘Antipodean Sommelier’ is a "small integrated wine business” owned by James Leary who came back to New Zealand after 6 years involved with distribution in the U.K. Based in Auckland they have a vineyard in Ward, just south of Seddon and have made a number of wines under different brands from around the country for distribution domestically and in the U.K. The company also distributes a number of established brands overseas. Besides the wines, there is cider and beer in the portfolio. Here, I review a selection of wines that are distributed in New Zealand, under the ‘Snapper Rock, ‘Ward Valley’ and Pirinoa Road’ brands. The Antipodean Sommelier has their wines made at the Allan Scott facilities in Marlborough, with Hayden Penny in Hawke’s Bay, and at the Martinborough Vineyard winery in Martinborough. www.aswines.co.nz
