The ‘HALO’ brand of Sacred Hill initially began as an on-premise range, but over the years that has changed so that the wines are bottlings of small parcels from the company’s best vineyards. While they may not have the richness, structure and complexity of the Special Selection’ wines, the recent releases have shown to be of very high quality. Sacred Hill say the wines are "fruit forward New Zealand styles with a touch of old world hand-crafted techniques to create texture and depth”. I can understand that. Here, I review the new ‘HALO’ wines, the 2016 Chardonnay and Syrah, plus 2015 Merlot/Cabernet. www.sacredhill.com
