Sacred Hill, Gunn Estate Wild South and Ti Point Releases

Under the Sacred Hill umbrella a diverse range of brands is operated. Each of the brands has a unique story and connection with Sacred hill, allowing them to provide variety when approaching the various channels of sales and marketing. Sacred Hill was established in 1986 by David and Mark Mason with Tony Bish, and the ‘Orange Label’ is their most distinctive and widely seen tier. The ‘Reserve’ range was only introduced earlier this year.‘Gunn Estate’ was established by the Gunn family in the Ohiti Valley, Hawke’s Bay, and was bought out by Sacred Hill with Denis Gunn joining the Sacred Hill winemaking team. The Wild South brand was the Cairnbrae operation, but purchased by Sacred Hill as they expanded into Marlborough. And ‘Ti Point’ is the wine venture of the Haslam family, originally based on their Matakana vineyard, but now incorporating fruit from other districts. Winemaker Tracy Haslam is married to Sacred Hill founder David Mason. The wines come under the Sacred Hill distribution network. All of the wines under these labels are made by independent teams, but come under the overall direction of chief winemaker Tony Bish. Here, I review a selection of wines under these labels.
