One of the best value wines imported and distributed in this country by Stephen Bennett MW is the Rojo ‘Gran Rojo’ VdeT Castilla Garnacha. The wine is made by Bodegas Navarro Lopez, based in Valdepenas, and specialising in the wines of Tierra de Castilla. Expansion has seen growth of the company in other regions, notably Rioja. The Garnacha wine has proven to be a veritable bargain in New Zealand, and indicates Stephen’s prowess in sourcing Spanish wines that are popular here. The sibling Rojo ‘Gran Rojo’ Tempranillo Rosado wine has been introduced to meet the needs for value, quality rosé wine. I review the 2017 vintage here.
