Rocky Point Central Otago Pinot Noir Rosé 2016

23-Feb-2017
With two Bendigo vineyards, Prophet’s Rock has been able to expand and further differentiate the wine under the ‘Prophet’s Rock’ and ‘Rocky Point’ labels, these brands essentially reflecting the two vineyards, the former being the site above the Bendigo Station Homestead established as the original plantings, and the latter from the newly added site, more southerly and closer to Lake Dunstan. The Rocky Point vineyard is the source for the purpose-grown fruit for the Rocky Point Rosé, first vintage in 2015. The wine was made in a European style with indigenous yeast fermentation and aging on lees. Here, I review the second release, the 2016 wine, made in a similar fashion. www.prophetsrock.co.nz
