Rocky Point Central Otago Pinot Noir Rosé 2015

15-Sep-2015
Under new ownership and consolidation of the Prophet’s Rock vineyard sites to two vineyards in the Bendigo sub-region, winemaker Paul Pujol has been able to undertake the expression of terroir emanating from the different sites and their soils. The ‘Rocky Point Estate’ vineyard is broken schist soil, shallower and stony, compared to the schist, quartz, chalk and clay of the ‘Bendigo’ vineyard above the Bendigo Station Homestead. Paul has sourced Pinot Noir fruit from the former site to make Prophet’s Rock inaugural rosé under the ‘Rocky Point’ label. The production of the rosé was influenced by Paul’s time in France, using indigenous yeasts and aging on lees. Here is my review of the wine. www.prophetsrock.co.nz
