Rock Ferry Methode, The Corners, Central Otago and Trig Hill Releases

Rock Ferry is the multi-dimensional winegrowing venture of Tom and Fiona Hutchison who simultaneously developed their vineyards in Marlborough and Central Otago from 2005. ‘The Corners’ and the ‘Orchard’ vineyards in Marlborough are complemented by their cellar door and very successful café. The Central Otago vineyard is sited in Bendigo and is named ‘Trig Hill’. All of the vineyards are certified BioGro organic and incorporate biodynamic regimes, and Rock Ferry is a member of MANA, the Marlborough Natural Winegrowers group.

Allan McWilliams is Rock Ferry’s winemaker and makes a full and broad range of wines from method traditionnelle, to an array of whites and Pinot Noir, which cover two regions. It must be a juggling act, but clearly Allan is clearly good at it, as the wines have been of very high quality. Here, I review a diverse selection, including a sparkling, whites from Marlborough and Central Otago, and two Central Otago Pinot Noirs, all the wines except for the method from the 2013 vintage.
