Rock Ferry and Trig Hill Releases

The Rock Ferry and Trig Hill wines of Tom and Fiona Hutchison are among the new releases from a new wave of young and forward thinking winegrowers. Creating the Rock Ferry label of Marlborough in 2005, they simultaneously developed their Trig Hill vineyard in the Bendigo district of Central Otago. Along the way, they’ve grown, acquiring more Marlborough vineyard, established an outstanding cellar door and café complex and become certified BioGro organic, becoming part of MANA, the Marlborough Natural Winegrowers group. The highly experienced Allan McWilliams has been Rock Ferry’s winemaker from the start, and just recently Ang Wilson has stepped up from her sales and marketing role to become the business director. I’ve recently seen a growing number of releases from Rock Ferry and Trig Hill and am impressed with the direction. Here, I review a selection that broadens the styles offered and show the depth of quality.
