Q Wine is the Waitaki Valley wine label of Jules Stephan who established a 5.5 ha vineyard on Grants Road in 2005, with Jules Matthews as General Manager and Creative Director. The vineyard was planted to 4 ha Pinot Gris, 1.5 ha Pinot Noir and a little Chardonnay. They released their first wines with the 2010 vintage. Antony Worsch of Alexandra Vintners has been their winemaker since their early years. His consistency of winemaking combined with the maturity of vines; they have been producing quality wine consistently, which shows a sense of place.
2021 was a low-yielding vintage. Concentration is obviously shown in the wine and positively contributes to intensity and complexity.
Q Wine mainly sells their wine directly to select restaurants and specialist wine shops; they are one of the small producers hugely disrupted by the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions of restaurants closure.
