Established in 1992, Porters Pinot remains one of the longest running small wineries in Martinborough. (Notes on a recent visit can be seen here.) John and Annabel Porter's preference is for a ‘feminine; style of red, akin to those of Volnay and Chambolle-Musigny. However, vintage conditions in 2009 were conducive to the making of a much larger, bolder style of wine. The wine has been labelled as a ‘Reserve' and will be released to mark the 20 year stage of their vinous journey, and pricing will be set then. Around 100 cases will be released. www.porterspinot.co.nz
