Pied Stilt Nelson Pinot Gris 2014

25-Sep-2015
Pied Stilt is the winegrowing venture of Ross Jackson and his family who moved from the Waikato to purchase a 12 ha apple orchard near Motueka, Nelson, and replaced the trees with vines in 2001. Planting Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, they supplied contract fruit but decided to create their own label with the 2009 vintage. Due to the proximity of the vineyard to the Motueka Sandspit, wading birds such as the Pied Stilt are frequent visitors, hence the name. The wines are made by Stefan Heinrich, of Anchorage Wines. www.piedstilt.co.nz
