Paul Mas ‘Single Vineyard’ 2015 Chardonnay, and 2014 Carignan and Cabernet

26-Sep-2016
Domaines Paul Mas has its beginnings with Auguste Mas acquiring 9 ha of vines in 1892 near the village of St Pons de Mauschiens near Montagnac in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. The family and generations have grown the business so that grandson Jean-Claude Mas oversees around 600 ha of estate vines and works with contract growers of over 1,300 ha to make a multitude of wines under different domaines and ranges. www.paulmas.com Here, I review three wines under the ‘Single Vineyard Collection’. They embrace modern winemaking styles and also the unique nature of southern France. The wines are distributed in New Zealand by Hancocks. www.hancocks.co.nz
