Paul Mas ‘Single Vineyard’ 2015 Chardonnay, and 2014 Carignan and Cabernet

Domaines Paul Mas has its beginnings with Auguste Mas acquiring 9 ha of vines in 1892 near the village of St Pons de Mauschiens near Montagnac in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. The family and generations have grown the business so that grandson Jean-Claude Mas oversees around 600 ha of estate vines and works with contract growers of over 1,300 ha to make a multitude of wines under different domaines and ranges. Here, I review three wines under the ‘Single Vineyard Collection’. They embrace modern winemaking styles and also the unique nature of southern France. The wines are distributed in New Zealand by Hancocks.
