Pask 2010 ‘Declaration’ Merlot and Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec

24-Jun-2015
As the pioneer in the Gimblett Road and Gimblett Gravels district of Hawke’s Bay, Pask Winery has a track record and fine pedigree of over 30 years of grapegrowing and winemaking. The very first vintage in 1985 produced a 5-star wine as rated in Cuisine magazine, and the wines from Pask continue to win gold medals and top awards to this day. Pask is committed to the Merlot variety as being the most suited to the district, but has Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon in support, with lesser plantings of Malbec, Pinot Gris and Viognier. The flagship wines are named ‘Declaration’ these being declared or released only in the best vintages. Head winemaker Kate Radburnd and winemaker Russell Wiggins ensure these wines are the best that can be made. They are very traditionally styled with a view to elegance and subtle detailing, rather than full-on ripeness, powerful extraction and exotic oaking. www.pask.co.nz
