Palliser Estate 2012 White and New Pinot Noir Releases

22-Feb-2013

The range of wines from Palliser Estate is among the most consistent and reliable in Martinborough and indeed the country, filled with award winners. It's not just one variety or style that sees success, but it is across the board. It's the combination of mature vines, careful viticulture and thoughtful winemaking by the team led by veteran Allan Johnson that result in this strong portfolio of wines that serve as benchmarks for the district and as ambassadors for the country abroad. Here I review a selection of whites from the cool 2012 vintage, and new release Pinot Noirs, the premium ‘estate' wine and the latest in ‘The Great Dog' series. For 2012, Allan made the Riesling a little differently, with a slightly lower alcohol level and a little more residual sugar. www.palliser.co.nz
