Coming to Marlborough in the late 1970s from the Champagne region where the Le Brun family are established winemakers, scion Daniel Le Bun brought with him considerable expertise to set this country on the path of sophisticated sparkling winemaking. Daniel and Adele Le Brun now operate No. 1 Family Estate on Rapaura Road, crushing over 30 tonnes annually, making some of this country’s finest method traditionnelle, and offer specialised sparkling wine vinification services to producers nationwide. The first wine Daniel and Adele Le Brun launched under the No. 1 Family Estate brand was the ‘Cuvee No. 1’, in July 1999, and it is a special wine to them.
