Neudorf ‘Rosie’s Block’ Nelson Chardonnay 2015

18-Apr-2016
The flagship wine for Neudorf Vineyards in Nelson is their ‘Moutere’ Chardonnay, made continuously from vines planted in the clay soils of the Moutere district in 1978. The wine is regarded as one of the finest in the country. However the supporting ‘Nelson’ Chardonnay label has risen in stature over the years to also become a wonderful expression of the variety, as the wine is increasingly reliant on Moutere fruit that is growing in maturity. The ‘Nelson’ Chardonnay has been renamed with the 2015 vintage to ‘Rosie’s Block’ as a dedication to Tim and Judy Finn’s daughter Rosie, who is an integral part of the business and working in the wine trade in London. ‘Rosie’s Block’ overlooks the ‘Home Vineyard’ at Neudorf, and the wine is sourced from it, and includes fruit from other Moutere parcels. Here, I review the 2015 ‘Rosie’s Block’ Chardonnay. www.neudorf.co.nz
